A Darien resident came to police headquarters on Jan. 17 with several printouts of threats being made by Woodford, Vermont, resident Richard Koproski, who made threats through Facebook.
Police said that a review of the threats showed that Koproski made multiple references to having weapons, being upset with various people, and that he would need a lot of body bags. Other threats are directed at the complainant specifically, threatening to shoot them in the head and that he has an arsenal of firearms.
The local resident told officers that he felt threatened “because Koproski had been becoming more unpredictable over the past few years, and he knew him to own a large number of firearms. The complainant owns a home in Vermont in close proximity to Koproski.”
Based on the threats and investigation into other threats made by Koproski, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Officers contacted Vermont State Police, who took Koproski into custody on Tuesday, Jan. 22. On Wednesday, Jan. 30, detectives traveled to Vermont and took Koproski into custody from Vermont Corrections personnel.
Koproski, 58, was transported to Darien and charged with first-degree threatening. Following his arraignment, Koproski was held on a $250,000 bond and transported to Stamford court the following day. No return court date has been announced.
